Traditional winter foods often include ghee, lentils, nuts, warming spices and seasonal vegetables. These not only help boost immunity, improve circulation, and prevent common winter illnesses but also comforts cravings.

Gajar ka Halwa (Carrot Pudding)
Red carrots are available mainly during winter. This dessert is rich, warming, and packed with nutrients which makes it perfect for cold days.
Ingredients needed:
- Red carrots
- Full-cream milk
- Ghee
- Sugar or jaggery
- Chopped almonds
- Cashews
- Cardamom powder
Method: Cook carrots in milk on low heat until soft. Add ghee and sugar, stirring continuously. Cook until the mixture thickens and garnish it with chopped almonds and cashews.
Vegetable Soup
During winters people tend to drink less water. Soup is light, comforting, hydrating and helps soothe the throat, support immunity, and is easy to digest. It also helps prevent common winter illness.
Ingredients needed:
- Mixed vegetables
- Onion
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Black pepper
- Herbs
- Salt
Method: Shimmer all ingredients until flavour develops. Add salt as required. Serve hot with honey.
Til Laddus
Til Laddus are the traditional energy bites. Sesame seeds are rich in calcium, iron, and healthy fats, it produces heat in the body.
Ingredients needed:
- Jaggery
- Ghee
- Roasted sesame seeds
Method: Melt jaggery, add roasted sesame seeds to it and mix. Lastly, shape them into laddu with the help of ghee while warm.
Rajma Chawal
It is one of India’s most favourite comfort foods. It is rich in plant-based protein, fiber, and essential minerals which makes the dish filling and satisfying during winters when the body craves hearty meals.
Ingredients needed:
- Kidney beans
- Onions
- Tomato
- Spices
Method: Cook onion, tomatoes, spices with kidney beans and serve hot with steamed rice (chawal).
